Nationals this year was incredible and I couldn’t be more proud of my crew! They went so far beyond any expectations I had! I’ll always be thankful for the immense effort and trust they give me. So grateful to their breeders, Katie Belz - Kamar (Fable), Sarah Murphy - Abbaio (Json), and Meg Smith - Marwyn (Hattie) for entrusting me with the very best Beezies! Friday morning Hattie showed beautifully, placing second behind her sister, Kelce. That evening, we got together for the inaugural IHCUS Sleepover Specialty! It was a ton of fun and Hattie was a trooper throughout! My onesie was quite warm but we did avoid Hattie actually removing the tail . We had a great time but no love in WB.
Saturday, we had a late ring time (what even are those?!) which was good as I was still tired from the night before. When it was finally our turn in the ring Hattie was so good! She won her class, went WB for a 5pt major (her first points!), BOW, and BOBOH under judge Mrs. June A Penta! Mrs. Penta was also the judge that gave Fable the last major he needed to finish, so it was extra sweet! I had barely set down our prizes when a friend was kind enough to let me know that the OH Hound Group was starting. We made it to the ring just in time. Hattie had a blast in the group ring and loved all the support! I couldn’t believe it when judge JC Boulinguez selected us for OH Group 4! I’m so so proud of my baby girl! At just 8 months and 2 days old, Hattie is now major pointed and OH Group placing! Many thanks to both judges for finding my girl in such quality entries! Sunday Hattie showed beautifully and was RWB to the major to close out our Nationals! On Wednesday afternoon Hattie made her Nationals Debut in Futurity! While she was a bit distracted she did wonderfully, placing second in her class. The judge had many nice things to say about Hattie and her sister!
Thursday was the day of the National Specialty itself, and the day Hattie turned 8 months old! It was a long day full of so many wonderful dogs and people. Hattie showed for the first time in the big kid ring and handled herself so well! She won her class (of 1) and went on to make the final cut in WB! Hattie also helped her dad, Spencer in the stud dog class. I was so happy with her performances and thought that was her day finished. Thankfully a friend told me Hattie would also go back in the ring for Best Puppy! Hattie was tired but held herself together and went on to win Best Puppy under esteemed hound expert Michael Canalizo! I couldn’t be more proud of my baby dog! So thankful to Meg and Baylie (Marwyn Hounds) for entrusting me with my vibrant red girl! So proud of her! We started the day with the ASFA field trial. I may or may not have almost gotten my car stuck, but managed to get things sorted out!
Fable put in some surprisingly good runs to land in 4th in Field Champions after a tiebreaker. Json was on fire! He won the Field Champion stake then tied with the Open stake winner in the first breed run despite a fall from Json. After a quick blanket change on J’s part, we ran them again and Baby J put in a beautiful run to win BOB! He also won the Bench Stake, High Scoring Field Champion, and won the Kennel Stakes with Fable! So so proud of my Baby Spice! Wednesday evening the results of the Triathlon was announced and Fable placed 2nd with Json placing 3rd! So proud of my boys! Today was a whirlwind. Both boys showed in Agility (Time 2 Beat, Standard, and Jumpers With Weaves), Rally, and did their Triathlon conformation exams. Fable was also entered in Beginner Novice Obedience. All 3 rings (Agility, Rally, and Obedience) ended up running at the same time for most of the day. I’m beyond proud of my boys for giving me their all despite jumping around between sports all day. As far as results go:
Json ran: T2B, Nov Standard, Nov JWW, Rally Novice, Triathlon Judging - NQ in T2B but had a lovely run! - Q in Nov Standard, New Title, 1st place - Q in Novice JWW, 2nd Q, 1st Place - Q in Rally Novice, New Title, 3rd Place - High Scoring Ibizan in Novice Standard - High Scoring Ibizan in Agility Trial!!! Pending AKC, Json is now: “BIF DC Abbaio Flute And Plunder MC LCX *NA* *RN* ACT1 ACT1J CGC TKA VHMP BCAT FCh VCb” Fable ran: T2B, Exc Standard, Rally Advanced, Beginner Novice, Exc JWW, Triathlon Judging - Q in T2B, 3rd place for 5pts - Q in Exc Standard (his 2nd), 1st Place - Q in Rally Advanced, New Title, 2nd Place - NQ in Beginner Novice (stood during exam) but his front was great! - NQ in Exc JWW, I got lost, but Fable got his weaves! - High Scoring Ibizan in Excellent Agility Pending AKC, Fable is now: “DC Kamars Free Your Mind MC OA OAJ *RA* DS BCAT ACT1 ATT TKA NW2 FCh JSR VCp” So so proud of my boys! They did so well given the new trial environment, different surfaces (turf), and challenging schedule! We started off our 2024 Ibizan Hound Nationals in Sorento, IL for AKC Lure Coursing! In a quality entry Json placed 3rd in his stake and Fable wasn't last! Both boys ran beautifully on a new field!
We always love going up to Limestone, TN for their annual Birthday Bash event!
Json was the star this weekend, placing 3rd on Saturday (after a tie for 2nd), 1st/BOB on Sunday, and 3rd (after a tie for 1st, then a tie for 2nd) on Monday. Json picked up 7 more points towards his LCX 2 and is now 3/4s of the way there! Fable… well he Fabled his way around the courses this weekend On Saturday Fable QC’d two Greyhounds and tied for last place in specials. Sunday he also tied for last place in specials and managed to slam his jaw/face into his poor niece's hip. Monday, you guessed it, he was last place in specials but gave his buddy a great opportunity to show off her agility skills by becoming a moving jump. For all his field cheating, Fable is such a solid, dependable dog! Hattie had a fun time meeting people and hanging out. She even got to do a fun run on Monday before ribbons! |
