Nationals this year was incredible and I couldn’t be more proud of my crew! They went so far beyond any expectations I had! I’ll always be thankful for the immense effort and trust they give me. So grateful to their breeders, Katie Belz - Kamar (Fable), Sarah Murphy - Abbaio (Json), and Meg Smith - Marwyn (Hattie) for entrusting me with the very best Beezies! In total, the dogs finished their Nationals with:

Friday morning Hattie showed beautifully, placing second behind her sister, Kelce. That evening, we got together for the inaugural IHCUS Sleepover Specialty! It was a ton of fun and Hattie was a trooper throughout! My onesie was quite warm but we did avoid Hattie actually removing the tail . We had a great time but no love in WB.
Saturday, we had a late ring time (what even are those?!) which was good as I was still tired from the night before. When it was finally our turn in the ring Hattie was so good! She won her class, went WB for a 5pt major (her first points!), BOW, and BOBOH under judge Mrs. June A Penta! Mrs. Penta was also the judge that gave Fable the last major he needed to finish, so it was extra sweet! I had barely set down our prizes when a friend was kind enough to let me know that the OH Hound Group was starting. We made it to the ring just in time. Hattie had a blast in the group ring and loved all the support! I couldn’t believe it when judge JC Boulinguez selected us for OH Group 4! I’m so so proud of my baby girl! At just 8 months and 2 days old, Hattie is now major pointed and OH Group placing! Many thanks to both judges for finding my girl in such quality entries! Sunday Hattie showed beautifully and was RWB to the major to close out our Nationals! On Wednesday afternoon Hattie made her Nationals Debut in Futurity! While she was a bit distracted she did wonderfully, placing second in her class. The judge had many nice things to say about Hattie and her sister!
Thursday was the day of the National Specialty itself, and the day Hattie turned 8 months old! It was a long day full of so many wonderful dogs and people. Hattie showed for the first time in the big kid ring and handled herself so well! She won her class (of 1) and went on to make the final cut in WB! Hattie also helped her dad, Spencer in the stud dog class. I was so happy with her performances and thought that was her day finished. Thankfully a friend told me Hattie would also go back in the ring for Best Puppy! Hattie was tired but held herself together and went on to win Best Puppy under esteemed hound expert Michael Canalizo! I couldn’t be more proud of my baby dog! So thankful to Meg and Baylie (Marwyn Hounds) for entrusting me with my vibrant red girl! So proud of her! We had a bunch of fun at the CAHC Lure Coursing trial up in Limestone this weekend! The boys ran well and Hattie got to do a puppy bump.
Saturday Fable used his very best moose baby brain cells and cheated his way around the course tying for 4/5, then placing 5th after the runoff. Json tied with cousin Beetlejuice for 2/3 taking 3rd after a runoff. Sunday Fable had a surprisingly good prelim run. He did think some strong thoughts in finals and placed 4th. Json had a solid prelim run and an awesome finals run to win 1st in specials. He then went on to win BOB! Json ended up running with a lovely Greyhound for BIF and held his own when he wasn’t trying to overthink it. Json is now over halfway to his LCX2! The 'Kosmos Krew' got to help a local photographer test out a new photo location and the results are so good! So so pleased with how they turned out!
This weekend we travelled to Conway, AR to spend some time with Hattie's breeder and co-owners. Fable was entered in the breed ring and Hattie was entered in Beginner puppy with her sister. Fable ended up taking Select/BOBOH both days, though he showed unlike himself. Hattie was the star winning BOB and Group 1 both days! She was an absolute rockstar! So proud of her!
We headed to Limestone, TN for LGRA and the sighthound only Fast CAT this weekend! It's been over a year since we've done LGRA or Fast CAT so I wasn't sure how things would go.
In LGRA, Fable was the only one running, as Json hasn't had any box training. Fable's scores from 2022 were good enough to keep him in the high point race, and that's where he stayed all weekend. Fable won both meets completely undefeated in a field of 11 Ibizans! Fable earned 4 points both Saturday and Sunday leaving him just a 1/2 point away from his GRC and just one meet away from his SSR! In Fast CAT, Json ended up being the fastest Ibizan of the weekend clocking in at 28.69mph! Json also finished his BCAT! With their runs from this weekend the boys should both land in the top 5 for Ibizans in Fast CAT this year. Hattie had a great time and got to do some baby box practice! Hattie earned her very first title this week! She completed and passed her Virtual Home Manners Puppy test! Pending AKC, and my ability to remember to submit the paperwork, Hattie is now:
Marwyn Nahala What Is Love At Kosmos *VHMP* We headed out to Fayetteville, AR for this year's Beezer Bash! Fable showed Friday and Saturday, and both boys ran ASFA on Friday and both days of AKC Lure Coursing Saturday and Sunday.
Fable showed well both days but didn't place in a deep quality entry. He showed happily and moved well. Both boys ran well on Friday, taking 3rd (Json) and 4th (Fable). Fable also won the performance stake! During the weekend trials Fable helped QC one of the ridgebacks and then continued to run well with Fable placing 5th and Json just out of the ribbons on Saturday. On Sunday Json placed 3rd and Fable just out of the ribbons. Hattie had so much fun hanging out and meeting everyone. She even got to do a puppy bump! |
