Growing up, I always had a deep love and affinity for animals. I spent years asking for a dog. My parent's finally gave in to my pleas and we got our first family dog, Sara, in 2000. After seeing agility and obedience competitions on a television show, I decided that is what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, due to Sara's bad joints and our location, my first foray into the world of dog sports was still over a decade away.
It was years before I got another dog. Peanut came into my life at a time when I desperately needed her. I got Peanut from a local rescue who didn't realize how many struggles she had. My dreams of having a sport dog were once again put on the back burner as we struggled to find our way to exist in a world that was terrifying to Peanut. Peanut certainly made me the trainer that I am today and I am incredibly proud of how far we have come and thankful to those who have helped us on our way! Eventually, after a lot of time and effort, we were able to make our debut in the dog sport ring! I also started teaching classes with my local AKC Obedience club. Several years later, Mira was added to the family. She also came from a local rescue and her Embark came back as a Husky x Bully breed mix. Mira had the best temperament and was about as close to bombproof as a dog could be. Unfortunately, our world turned upside down when she started having seizures. She was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and we entered what would be a nearly four year battle which we couldn't win. Between the issues that Sara, Peanut, and Mira have, I decided to pursue ethically and responsibly bred purebred dogs.
After a great deal of research, readjusting my parameters, researching some more, and more readjusting, I finally settled on a breed, the Ibizan Hound. From everything I had read and seen, I thought that the breed would work well with Peanut and Mira and had my favorite parts of both girls. I reached out to a breeder and was lucky enough to be chosen for my wonderful cinnamon roll boy, Fable. Mira adored 'her' puppy and loved raising him. I've definitely been bitten by the 'Beezer bug' and can't imagine my life without one of these sweet, funny, opinionated dogs or the incredible breed community! I hope that I will continue being able to help showcase the breed, support responsible ethical breeders, and support responsible ethical rescues in the future!
