We had an incredible time at the 2025 IHCUS National Specialty! All 3 dogs got to be involved this year and we had an action packed week.
Starting with Json, he was only entered in AKC and ASFA Lure Coursing. He made it clear that he doesn't want to play show dog anymore, so we nixed the triathlon for him. On Monday Json was 3rd in his AKC specials stake for a few more points towards his LCX3. He is now over 80% of the way there! Json also won the Performance Stake! On Tuesday, Json was 1st in the ASFA Field Champion stake and lost BOB by just one point! Json also won the ASFA performance stake! This puts him halfway to his LCM in just 9 days of running! Next up is Hattie! She was entered in AKC and ASFA Lure Coursing as well as Dual Titled Sweeps (with Co-Owner Baylie), Maturity, the National, Hound show, Sleepover Specialty, and both supported entries over the weekend. This is the most Hattie has ever shown and she did so well! She enjoyed showing and handled all the in/out of the crate like a pro! Hattie was just out of the points for both AKC and ASFA, though she showed me some beautiful moments! She is just 3 months out of her first season, and she looked great! While we didn't meet our goals in showing, she showed better and better every time in the ring and I couldn't ask for more from her! At 20 months Hattie is just 5pts, 1 major, and 1 champion defeat away from her Grand Championship. She's also just 3 singles away from her FC/DC! Last but certainly not least, Fable. I didn't quite realize all that I had signed him up for, but he rose to the occasion like it was nothing! Fable was entered in AKC/ASFA Lure Coursing, Triathlon, Dual Titled Sweeps, Rally (Excellent and Advanced), and the National (for a junior to show). Fable had a grand time assisting with QC's before field cheating his way around both the AKC and ASFA courses. Fable showed well in both the Triathlon conformation judging and in Dual Titled sweeps. Our first Rally run (Excellent) went poorly. The judge had some lovely things to say about Fable, but told me I needed to get myself sorted out. Fable and I turned things around with a 99 in Advanced B and our first High In Trial! In the second rally trial, Fable was getting tired, but still gave me his all to earn an 88 and 95 to get his first High Combined award! Finishing on his 99 Rally Advanced B score, Fable won the 2025 IHCUS National Triathlon by nearly 11pts! After some brief instructions, Fable was off with his new junior friend for the National! They looked so so good together and I'm glad Fable and his new friend had fun! The judge had kind things to say about him after the show as well, which means so much! I am beyond proud of my crew! Win or lose, I get to bring the 3 best dogs home with me!

Today was a whirlwind. Both boys showed in Agility (Time 2 Beat, Standard, and Jumpers With Weaves), Rally, and did their Triathlon conformation exams. Fable was also entered in Beginner Novice Obedience. All 3 rings (Agility, Rally, and Obedience) ended up running at the same time for most of the day. I’m beyond proud of my boys for giving me their all despite jumping around between sports all day. As far as results go:
Json ran: T2B, Nov Standard, Nov JWW, Rally Novice, Triathlon Judging - NQ in T2B but had a lovely run! - Q in Nov Standard, New Title, 1st place - Q in Novice JWW, 2nd Q, 1st Place - Q in Rally Novice, New Title, 3rd Place - High Scoring Ibizan in Novice Standard - High Scoring Ibizan in Agility Trial!!! Pending AKC, Json is now: “BIF DC Abbaio Flute And Plunder MC LCX *NA* *RN* ACT1 ACT1J CGC TKA VHMP BCAT FCh VCb” Fable ran: T2B, Exc Standard, Rally Advanced, Beginner Novice, Exc JWW, Triathlon Judging - Q in T2B, 3rd place for 5pts - Q in Exc Standard (his 2nd), 1st Place - Q in Rally Advanced, New Title, 2nd Place - NQ in Beginner Novice (stood during exam) but his front was great! - NQ in Exc JWW, I got lost, but Fable got his weaves! - High Scoring Ibizan in Excellent Agility Pending AKC, Fable is now: “DC Kamars Free Your Mind MC OA OAJ *RA* DS BCAT ACT1 ATT TKA NW2 FCh JSR VCp” So so proud of my boys! They did so well given the new trial environment, different surfaces (turf), and challenging schedule! Our Rally/Obedience weekend is over! I’m so so proud of how well Fable handled himself! It’s been nearly 2 years since we’ve been at a Rally trial and neither of us have ever competed in Obedience. Fable finished the weekend going 4/4!
On Saturday Fable finished his Rally Intermediate title with a 96 and 1st place! Fable and I also ventured into the Obedience ring for the first time (for either of us) and managed a 3rd place in Beginner Novice B with a score of 190! Sunday Fable was 5th in Rally Advanced with a score of 97 today after a tie. Then Fable held himself together for Beginner Novice B to earn a 191 and 2nd place! We definitely have work to do, but I couldn’t be happier with Fable’s performance and his trust in me. We went to the Ibizan Hound Nationals again this year! We did a little bit of everything: Lure Coursing, Conformation, Rally, and Triathlon. We started our week on Tuesday with AKC Lure Coursing. Fable finished 3rd in his specials stake and Json finished 5th in his specials stake after getting run over in his finals run. After Lure Coursing Fable had the conformation portion of the Triathlon. On to Wednesday where Fable started the day by placing second in Rally Intermediate with a score of 90. Then we went on to ASFA Lure Coursing. Fable placed second in the specials stake and Json placed just out of the ribbons in his open stake. On to Thursday, the day of the National! Fable showed beautifully for me and won his class! He showed wonderfully in Winners Dog as well and earned some hoots and hollers from his antics! Friday was the supported hound show and both Fable and Json won their classes! Fable got a good look for WD, but didn't quite make the cut. Saturday was the open show and Json won his class again!
We had a great time and can't wait to go back next year! I entered Fable in our local Rally trial somewhat last minute and we didn't have a ton of time to prepare. Despite only having worked on specific Rally/Competition Obedience maneuvers for somewhere between 60-80minutes total prior to the trial. We did pretty well. We entered all four trials and to be entirely honest, I wasn't sure how well it would go. Saturday morning during Trial 1, Fable was a bit unconnected and we weren't as synced as we normally are. We placed 2nd in Novice B with a 91. Saturday afternoon went far better and we placed 2nd again with a score of 97. The next day during Trial 1 Fable won the Novice B class with a score of 99 to finish his Rally Novice title! I moved Fable up to intermediate for Trial 2, but he was pretty tired. We still qualified with a score of 88 after a fumble on a sign where I tried to keep Fable engaged over saving points. I'm so happy with how well he did. We will definitely try to go into our next Rally trial with a bit more practice though!
Fable participated in his first ever UKC show! We went to Autuagaville, AL and showed in all four shows. Fable also competed in Rally during the 'morning' show each day as well. Fable walked away with two Sighthound Group 4s, a Sighthound Group 2, and a Sighthound Group 1! Fable also earned a Total Dog award which is awarded to dogs that have qualified in a dog sport and have earned a conformation win (with a dog defeat) in the same show. I'm so proud of how he handled himself!
